Salla Hakkola (M.M, Sibelius-Academy) is a multi-award winning harpist- composer and performance artist whose work crosses boundaries of both musical genre and artistic discipline more generally.
As a harpist she is known as a pioneer of electric harp and for her experimental approach to the instrument which challenges the conventional role of the harp, and for her boundless ability to indulge in multiple music genres and groups, improvisation, and interdisciplinary projects. She has performed in equally varied contexts, with artists and groups such as Yona, Pekka Kuusisto, Apulanta, Jukka Perko and Verneri Pohjola, and is active in experimental art scenery.
As a composer she is best known for her soundtracks for the Angry Birds, Clash of Clans and Merge Mansion mobile games through which her music has reached millions of listeners across the world. She has worked with ensembles ranging from top symphony orchestras (Helsinki Philharmonic, Avanti!, Seattle Symphony Orchestra) and contemporary chamber groups to jazz and indie-pop combos.
As performance artist she combines music, sound and performance art from bodily and material point of view. She has made performances in Finland and in festivals around Europe.
She won the best soundtrack prize in Game Audio Awards 2016, the NYX Game Awards 2023 the Best Music in Mobile and NYX Game Awards 2023 for the Best Original Game Soundtrack.
